12OperationFollow Operation Safety RulesBefore starting the compressor, review the safety rulesfound below and throughout the manual.WARNINGFailure to follow safety rules may result in serious injuryor death to the operator or bystanders.Instruct Operators. Owner must instruct all operators insafe set-up and operation. Do not allow anyone tooperate the compressor who has not read theOwner’s Manual.Safety Guarding. Only operate with safety covers,guards and barriers secured and in good workingorder.Moving Parts. Keep hands, feet, hair and apparel awayfrom moving parts. Never remove any guards whilethe unit is operating. Do not reach into an air vent orcavity, as they may cover dangerous moving parts.Ear Protection. Hearing can be damaged fromprolonged, close-range exposure to the noise levelproduced by this compressor. Ear plugs or otherhearing protection is recommended for personsworking who are exposed within 15-20 feet of therunning compressor for an extended period of time.Eye Protection. Wear ANSI/OSHA required “Z87.1”safety glasses when operating or servicing thecompressor. Pressurized air spray from this unit cancause severe injury to the eyes. Also, small objectswill become airborne as the air spray contacts them.Respirator. Wear a respirator when using thecompressed air for spraying. Spray in a well-ventilated area to prevent health and fire hazards.Prepare for OperationMake sure that any regular maintenance has beenperformed as prescribed in the “Maintenance & Repair”section. Drain receiver tank of any moisture. Inspect for oil leaks. Check for any unusual noise/vibration. Ensure the area around compressor is free fromrags, tools, debris and flammable or explosivematerials. Ensure belt guards and covers are securely inplace.WARNING: Entanglement hazardDo NOT operate with protective covers or guardsremoved. Beneath these covers are high speed movingcomponents, which can entangle the operator orbystanders. Entanglement in this equipment may resultin serious injury, amputation or death.Check/Add Oil to the PumpCheck the oil level in the pump. Use sight glass forpump oil level. Add oil as needed.WARNING: Burn hazardNever open oil port while compressor is running. Hot oilcan spray over face and body.CAUTION: Inadequate lubrication hazardNever operate compressor with inadequate lubricant.This will cause overheating and severe damage to theengine and pump.Models 25653 and 25654Figure 4The compressor pump capacity is 16.9 oz.
