Releasing Applications ApplicationsNFS-640 Installation Manual P/N 51332:B1 12/01/2003 654.5.5 Connecting a Releasing Device to the FCM-1 ModuleThe module can control 1 A of current. Make sure to keep total system current within the limits ofthe power supply. You can power the module from the power supply of the Control Panel or anyUL -listed 24 VDC regulated power-limited power supply for Fire Protective Signaling. For moreinformation, refer to the Device Compatibility Document.Figure 40 Typical Connection of a 24 VDC Releasing Device to the FCM-1 ModuleCircuit Requirements. When connecting a releasing device to the FCM-1 module, note thefollowing:1. For NFPA 13 and 15 applications, disable the Soak Timer (Soak=0000); for NFPA 16applications, set the Soak Timer (0600-0900 seconds). Refer to the NFS-640 ProgrammingManual for instructions on setting the Soak Timer.2. Circuits are supervised and power-limited (except if configured according to Note 3a below).3. In applications not requiring power-limited circuits –a) If the application does not require supervising the releasing device against shorts, End-of-Line devices (P/N REL-47K) are not requiredb) Limited energy cable cannot be used for wiring of a releasing device circuit;c) Maintain a 0.25 inch (6.35 mm) spacing between the releasing circuit device wiring and anypower-limited circuit wiring; andd) Program the releasing circuit for Type Code RELEASE CKT .4. The FCM-1 module must be programmed with a releasing type code listed in the NFS-640Programming Manual.+–+– 89 8899101112131415001122334455667701234765TENSONESADDRESSLOOPCompatible UL-listed24 VDC releasing deviceREL-47KBrown RedN.C.
