EMPTYING THE DEBRIS PAIL(VX475C, VX550C & VX1000C)Your power unit has a permanent filter that is self cleaningunder normal conditions. The filter protects the motor andstops small dirt particles from escaping to the outside of thepower unit. The filter cleans itself by moving up when thepower unit starts, and dropping down when the unit is turnedoff. The filter can be removed by means of a pull-tab forcleaning if desired. Be sure to reinstall properly. Correctplacement is critical to insure proper protection for themotor.1. Release both carry handles on side of the unit by pullingout and then pushing up. (FIGURE 1). Holding the pail bythe handles, lower it from unit (FIGURE 2).2. Carry pail to trash receptacle and empty.3. Reattach pail using handles.4. Close doorand pushReset buttonon controlpanel. Light oncontrol panelwill change togreen on theVX550 andVX1000.BAG REPLACEMENT(VX475, VX550 & VX1000)Under normal conditions the bag requires changingapproximately twice a year. When the amber light on front of the VX550 or VX1000power unit illuminates, it indicates that the soil bag has beenin use for 24 hours, and should be changed. Red light canilluminate at any time indicating bag is full. When the red lightilluminates, it is absolutely necessary to change the bag. Redlight will turn off motor on bagged units, preventingpremature bag burst. If your installation uses indicatinginlets or indication hoses, the light on the interior faceplateof the inlet will also have changed to amber at this time as areminder to change the bag in the power unit. Followdirections below to change the bag. Once you have changedthe bag and replaced the debris pail, press the resetbutton on the control panel. The first green light on the lightindicator will come on.If you have been vacuuming large quantities of pet hair, etc.,you may need to replace your bag more frequently. If younotice a loss of vacuum prior to the light changing to amber, check your disposable bag and replace as needed. Ifchanging the bag does not correct the loss of vacuum, seeTroubleshooting Guide section on pages 8-9.REMOVING A FULL BAG1. Open the door on front of unit (FIGURE 3).2. Lower bag holder by grasping tab and pulling out anddown (FIGURE 4). Holder will drop into bag removalposition (FIGURE 5).3.
