20TroubleshootingWhen the keypad is plugged in there is aloud pop through the speakers and thekeypad does not work.Improperly wired CAT5 cable. Check that you are using the 568A or Bwiring standard (see section I: CrimpingCAT5 wire). The best way to know is touse a CAT5 tester.Symptom Probable Cause RemedyWhen the keypad is plugged in, it justflashes and has no functionality.Assigning duplicate addresses to multiplekeypads.Each keypad must have a unique addressset with the Zone Address rotary switchlocated on the back of the keypad (seesection VII, Installing the Essentiakeypads.The amplifier is plugged in and turned on,but the STAND BY LED is not lit and none ofThis is most likely caused by a blown fuseon the power supply.The fuse is accessed at the back of theamplifier where the AC cord plugs in. Itrequires a 4 amp time delay fuse.The zone is on and music is playing, butthe keypad only flashes when I try tochange source, control volume, mute, orturn the zone off.The parental lock is assigned on thatparticular keypad.Pressing and holding the active Sourcebutton on the keypad will activate a lockfeature and prevent any functionality.When locked the keypad will simply flashwhen a function is attempted. Pressingand holding the source button again willunlock the keypad.All the keypads change when a source isselected on only one.The keypads are set for Source Grouping. Pressing the MUTE and Source 3 buttonsimultaneously sets the Source Groupingfeature. This will cause multiple keypadsto always share the same source (seeSection IX, Zone EQ and Source Groupingon page 11).With the keypads plugged in, the POWERLED on the front of the amplifier will notturn on.One or more improperly wired CAT5 cables. Make sure the amplifier is turned on. Testthat the POWER LED on the amplifierturns on when the Network Cable isunplugged. Next, unplug all the CAT5cables from the EZ Port and plug themback in one at a time until the badcable(s) is discovered.The IR repeater does not properly controlthe audio source equipment.One or more of the IR emitters are notproperly placed over the IR receiver on theaudio source equipment, or the IR outputon the Essentia does not correspond withthe audio equipment you are controlling.Reposition the LED end of the emitter onthe face of the source equipment, so itis flashing directly over that source’s IRreceiver. Make sure that the emitterplugged into IR Output #1 is actuallygoing to source #1 , and so on forsources 2-6.
