8Player Portfolio Audio System | Product ManualSETUP AND INSTALLATIONNETWORK REQUIREMENTSA live Internet connection is necessary for initial setup of your Nuvo Player Portfolio System. For wired Ethernetconnectivity, a minimum 100 MB wired network is necessary for proper communication. Wireless-compatible devicesuse dual band 802.11n wireless communication. To ensure that all components are compatible and communicatingcorrectly, it is strongly suggested that network routers using the older 802.11g protocol be upgraded to supportMulticast and UPnP and be Wi-Fi® Certified before you proceed with the setup. When using an Ethernet connection to the system router, or for initial setup, make a connection from your homenetwork to one Ethernet port ( ) on the device, using a standard Ethernet cable.INSTALLING THE NV-P3100-XX, NV-P3500-XX, AND NV-P4300-XX PLAYERSConnect your rack-mount player to your network by inserting one end of a standard Ethernet cable into an Ethernetport on the player and use the other end to connect directly to your home network. Some players have two Ethernetports. You can choose either of the two Ethernet ports for connection.IMPORTANT: The NV-P3100-XX, NV-P3500-XX and NV-P4300-XX are not wireless devices and do not use Wi-Fi for communication.CONNECTING SPEAKERS TO THE NV-P3100-XX, NV-P3500-XX, AND NV-P4300-XX PLAYERSNOTE: Speakers can be bookshelf, floor-standing, or installed in the wall or ceiling. 16-gauge speaker wire is recommended. Up to 12-gauge speaker wire can be used, if desired. The rack-mount players have three separate zone “euro” style speaker connectors that use a modular plug. Toconnect the speakers, perform the following steps:1. Strip approximately 1/4 inch of insulation from the inner conductor wire.2. Terminate the speaker wire into the modular plug.3. Insert the plug into the appropriate zone output on the back panel (See Figure 1).IMPORTANT: Be careful not to let the exposed speaker wires touch. This will short the connection and could damage the amplifier.Figure 1
