Installing upgrades > 96HARD DISK DRIVEThe optional 40GB internal hard disk drive (HDD) enables collating of printed pages andcan be used to store overlays and macros, fonts, and secure or proof documents waiting tobe printed.1. Switch the MFP off and disconnect the AC power cable.2. Pull open the access panel on the side of the machine.3. Locate the clip (1) on the top of the disk unit into the slot (2) in the printer.4. Plug the end of the connecting cable (3) into the disk unit connector (4) in theprinter.5. Tighten the two thumbscrews (5).6. Close the access panel, pressing firmly at the top to latch it closed.7. Reconnect the AC power cable and switch the MFP on.8. When the MFP is ready, print a menu map (refer to “Information menu” onpage 34).9. Examine the first page of the menu map.Near the top of the page, between the two horizontal lines, you will see the currentMFP configuration. This should now indicate that the hard disk unit is installed.213545
