How to access the driver screens > 7HOW TO ACCESS THE DRIVER SCREENSMost of the features described are accessed via the printer driverscreens. How you access them depends on your computer and itsoperating system.The driver windows are dialogue boxes offering a wide range ofchoices about how you want to print your documents. WithinWindows these dialog boxes are tabbed, within Mac the dialogboxes use pop-up menus.There are two ways to access the driver features from withinWindows:1. Directly from the Windows “Printers” folder (“Printers andFaxes” folder in Windows XP).If you choose this method any changes you make willbecome the driver defaults. This means they will remainactive for all your applications unless you specificallychange them from within the application’s Print dialogue.2. From your application’s Print dialogue.If you choose this method any changes you make willusually only last for as long as the particular application isrunning, or until you change them again. In most cases,once you quit the application the driver defaults will return.NOTEExample driver screenshots are used throughout this manualand as such may not represent the driver screens for yourmachine. Some of the features shown on the examplescreenshots may not be available on your machine.NOTESettings made from the printer’s own control panel are theprinter defaults. They determine how your printer willbehave unless you specify otherwise from your computer.The driver defaults override the printer defaults.Application Print settings override both the printerdefaults and the driver defaults.
