Choose the power source best suited tothe situation.AA alkaline batteriesThe number of pictures that you can take mayvary considerably depending on the batterymanufacturer and shooting conditions.AA NiMH batteries (rechargeable batteries)Olympus NiMH batteries are rechargeable andeconomical. For details, refer to the instructionmanual for your charger.Caution:Use only batteries approved for use inthis product. Otherwise it could result inexplosion.Follow the instructions in this manual (p. 51)when disposing used batteries.The following types of batteries cannot beused:Lithium battery pack (CR-V3)/AA (R6)manganese (zinc-carbon) batteries/AA (R6)oxyride batteries/AA (R6) lithium batteriesPower consumption by the camera variesdepending on which functions are used.Power is consumed continuously during theconditions described below causing batteriesto become exhausted quickly.The zoom is used repeatedly.The shutter button is pressed halfwayrepeatedly in shooting mode, activating theauto focus.A picture is displayed on the monitor for anextended period of time.The camera is connected to a computer orprinter.Battery life varies depending on the type ofbattery, manufacturer, shooting conditions,etc. Similarly, the camera may turn off withoutdisplaying the battery level warning or maydisplay the battery level warning more quickly.•••••••••Camera careExteriorWipe gently with a soft cloth. If the camera isvery dirty, soak the cloth in mild soapy waterand wring well. Wipe the camera with thedamp cloth and then dry it with a dry cloth. Ifyou have used the camera at the beach, use acloth soaked in clean water and wrung well.MonitorWipe gently with a soft cloth.LensBlow dust off the lens with a commercialblower, then wipe gently with a lens cleaner.Do not use strong solvents such as benzeneor alcohol, or chemically treated cloth.Mold may form on the lens surface if thelens is left dirty.StorageWhen storing the camera for extended periods,remove the battery and card, and keep in acool, dry place that is well ventilated.Periodically insert the battery and test thecamera functions.Avoid leaving the camera in places wherechemical products are handled since thismay result in corrosion.•••••
