CMC 356 Reference Manual244.1.2 Current Output (Current Amplifier)Figure 4-3:CMC 356 current outputsgroups A & BThe current amplifiers are implemented as switched mode amplifiers withDC coupling. With this technology it is possible to achieve high powerdensity in a very compact structure. The DC coupling enables a precisereproduction of transients or DC offsets.Protecting the Current OutputsAll current outputs are protected for open circuits, short-circuits, andoverload. If the heat sink overheats, a thermo switch turns off all outputs. The output sockets are internally protected against currents > 45A peak(32A rms ; the CMC 356 switches off with the error message "current onneutral too high").In non-operative state, relay contacts (as illustrated in figure 5-3) protect thecurrent amplifier from external power by shortening the outputs to N.Caution: If there is an in-feed from an external source, the current outputscan be damaged or destroyed.Overload Warning Flagged in the SoftwareWhen a current output is overloaded, a corresponding warning is displayedin the user interface of the test software of the OMICRON Test Universe. Please see also section 7.1, "Safety Instructions for High Current Output" onpage 95.CURRENT OUTPUT ACURRENT OUTPUT BTwo galvanically separated three-phasecurrent outputs, each with their ownneutral (N).Each output is galvanically separatedfrom all other connections of theCMC 356.
