75Troubleshooting (Advanced)The device connected to the serial portdoes not work.z Check the connection.z The device driver may not work. Refer to the instruction manual of the device.z Do not connect two mouse devices simultaneously.z Set [Touch Pad] to [Disable] in the [Main] menu of the Setup Utility (Î page59).z Set [Serial Port A] or [Serial Port B] to [Auto] in the [Advanced] menu of theSetup Utility (Î page 60).z The I/O and IRQ you can use vary depending on the device. If the setting doesnot work, try other settings in the Setup Utility.The Serial Port B of the port replicatoror the car mounter does not work.z Set [Serial Port B] to [Auto] in the [Advanced] menu of the Setup Utility (Î page60).Cannot print. z Check the printer connection.z Turn on the printer.z The printer is not online.z No paper is in the printer tray or there is a paper jam.z Turn on the printer and connect it to the computer, and then restart thecomputer.LAN transmission speed slows downnoticeably.Poor performance during data trans-mission via a PC Card (e.g., distortedvideo image when writing to a DVcamera using an IEEE1394 PC Card).Wireless LAN connection is cut.z These problems may occur due to performance loss that results from the CPUpower-saving function. Log on to Windows as an administrator and follow thesteps below.A Click [start] - [Run] and input [c:\util\cpupower\setup.exe], and click[OK].Follow the on-screen instructions.B Click [start] - [All Programs] - [Panasonic] - [CPU Idle Setting].C Click [Performance] and click [OK], then click [Yes].The computer will restart.z If the problem persists, click [start] - [Control Panel] - [Performanceand Maintenance] - [Power Options] - [Power Schemes], select[Always On] in [Power schemes], and click [OK].• The above remedy is effective for performance loss resulting from the CPUpower saving function, but not for other causes (e.g., noise generated by highCPU load such as video playback).• The above remedy slightly reduces the battery operation time.
