Use of battery packs other thanthose manufactured and supplied by Panasonic may presenta safety hazard (generation of heat, ignition or rupture). When the Battery Pack Has Deteriorated, Replace Itwith a New OneContinued use of a damaged battery pack may result inheat generation, ignition or battery rupture.z Do not touch the terminals on the battery pack. Thebattery pack may no longer function properly if thecontacts are dirty or damaged.z Do not expose the battery pack to water, or allow it tobecome wet.z If the battery pack will not be used for a long period oftime (a month or more), charge or discharge (use) thebattery pack until the remaining battery level becomes30% to 40% and store it in a cool, dry place.z This computer prevents overcharging of the battery byrecharging only when the remaining power is less thanapprox. 95% (when Economy Mode (ECO) is enabled:75%) of capacity.z The battery pack is not charged when the computer isfirst purchased. Be sure to charge it before using it forthe first time. When the AC adaptor is connected to thecomputer, charging begins automatically.z Should the battery leak and the fluid get into youreyes, do not rub your eyes. This is completely normal.z Recharging will not commence if internal tempera-ture of the battery pack is outside of the allowabletemperature range (0 °C to 55 °C {32 °F to131 °F}). (Î Reference Manual “BatteryPower”) Once the allowable range requirement issatisfied, charging begins automatically. Note thatthe recharging time varies based on the usageconditions. (Recharging takes longer than usualwhen the temperature is 10 °C {50 °F} or below.)z In high-temperature environments, the battery takeslonger to fully recharge. In low-temperature environ-ments, the battery takes longer to fully recharge andthe operating time is shorter. Only use the computerwithin the allowable temperature range.z The battery pack is a consumable item. If theamount of time the computer can be run by using aparticular battery pack becomes dramaticallyshorter and repeated recharging does not restoreits performance, the battery pack should bereplaced with a new one.z When transporting a spare battery inside a package, briefcase, etc., it is recommended that it be placed ina plastic bag so that its contacts are protected.z Always power off the computer when it is not inuse. Leaving the computer on when the AC adap-tor is not connected will exhaust the remaining bat-tery capacity.Precautions (Battery Pack)CAUTION:Risk of Explosion if Battery is replaced by an Incorrect Type.Dispose of Used Batteries According to the Instructions.58-E-1A lithium ion battery that is recy-clable powers the product youhave purchased.
