STEP 2 Setting up the TV Guide On Screen systemPOWER I_/ISETUP--ENTERbu_onsAfter plugging the unit into your household AC outlet and pressing[(_ DVD POWER] to turn the unit on for the first time, the unit startsTV Guide On Screen system setup.Even if you do not want to use the TV Guide On Screensystem, complete the setup. You cannot use timerrecording unless the setup is completed.Only English is displayed in the TV Guide On Screensystem. Other languages cannot be displayed.TV Guide On Screen systemThis unit downloads a free television program list from a TVstation and displays the list on the television screen. The listoffers you many convenient functions such as timer recording(.., page 19) and so on (_ page 23).oThis unit is not compatible with TV Guide On Screen systemsbroadcast by satelIite.Downloading the television program listoThe unit downloads the television program list only when tileunit is turned off.eWhen the unit is connected to a cable TV box, the cable TVbox must be turned on in order to download the televisionprogram list.• In order to cool the circuits used for downloading the televisionprogram list, sometimes the cooling fan operates when theunit is turned off.
