MessagesYou can receive, display, edit and/or send short textmessages, of up to 160 characters.Before you can send a message you must enter theMessage Centre number into the Parameters. YourService Provider will supply the Message Centrenumber.When new messages are received, the messageindicator (N) flashes and they are automatically stored inthe message area of your SIM. When all the messagesare read, the N disappears. If the message area is fullthe N lights and a new message will be rejected. Toreceive new messages you will have to erase unwantedmessages.Received messages will be stored in the Receive List.Flashing “•” will indicate unread messages. Once themessage is selected, you can read, delete, edit andreply. With the word “Sender” displayed or a telephonenumber in quotation marks (” “), pressing D dials thetelephone number or pressing A stores the telephonenumber in the Phonebook.When a message has been sent or edited it will bestored in the Send List.Create will create a new message and send or store it inthe Send List.Review allows you to review how much of the messagearea is available.ParametersThe Parameters are necessary for receiving or sendingmessages.Auto Delete will erase messages automatically. When“Rcvd (Received) Read” is selected, a new message willoverwrite the oldest read message. When “Rcvd(Received) Any” is selected, a new message willoverwrite the oldest message even though it may nothave been read.Lifetime is the duration that your message is stored at theMessage Centre. Delivery attempts will be repeated untilthe message has been delivered or the Life Timeexpires.The Message Centre is where messages are sent beforethey are forwarded on to their destination.
