– 8 –E Main switch lockAfter use, set the main switch lock atthe lock position to prevent acciden-tal operation.F Battery pack (EY9021)CAUTIONWhen you charge the battery packfor the first time, or after prolongedstorage, charge it for about 24 hoursto bring the battery up to full capacity.1. Press the battery pack releasebuttons G on both sides and pullthe pack away from the tool.2. Charge the battery pack using thebattery charger.3. After the charging has been com-pleted, remove the battery packfrom the charger and connect it tothe tool. Disconnect the chargerfrom the power source when not inuse.Battery Pack LifeThe rechargeable batteries have alimited life. If the operation timebecomes extremely short afterrecharging, replace the battery with anew one.Note: Use under extremely hot orcold conditions will reduceoperation capacity per charge.Main switchlockG Battery pack release buttonH Battery charger (EY0225)1. Plug the charger into an AC outlet.NOTE: Sparks may be producedwhen the plug is insertedinto the AC powersupply, but this is not aproblem in terms of safety.2. During charging, the charginglamp will be lit.When charging is completed, aninternal electronic switch will auto-matically be triggered to preventovercharging.B Charging will not start if the bat-tery pack is warm (for example,immediately after heavy-dutyoperation). The orange standbylamp will be lit until the batterycools down. Charging will thenbegin automatically.4. When charging is completed, thecharging lamp will start flashing rapidly.5. If a fully charged battery pack isinserted into the charger again, thecharging lamp may light up and thenflash slowly. After several minutes,the charging lamp may flash quicklyto indicate the charging is completed.6. If the charging lamp does not lightimmediately after the charger isplugged in, or if after the standardcharging time the lamp does not gooff, consult an authorized dealer.NOTE: • When a cold battery (ofabout 5°C or less) is to becharged in a warm room,leave the battery in the roomfor at least one hour andcharge it when it has warmedup to room temperature.(Failing to do so may result in– 9 –MaintenanceUse only a dry, soft cloth for wiping theunit. Do not use a damp cloth, thinner,benzine, or other volatile solvents forcleaning.BATTERY RECYCLINGATTENTION:A nickel cadmium battery that isrecyclable powers the product you havepurchased.
