7 Read Me FirstNOTE The battery pack may become warm dur-ing recharging or normal use. This is com-pletely normal. Recharging will not commence if internaltemperature of the battery pack is outsideof the allowable temperature range (0 °Cto 50 °C {32 °F to 122 °F}). ( Operat-ing Instructions - Reference Manual “Bat-tery Power”) Once the allowable rangerequirement is satisfied, charging beginsautomatically. Note that the rechargingtime varies based on the usage conditions.(Recharging takes longer than usual whenthe temperature is 10 °C {50 °F} or below.) If the temperature is low, the operatingtime is shortened. Only use the computerwithin the allowable temperature range. This computer has a high temperaturemode function that prevents the degrada-tion of the battery in high temperature envi-ronments. ( Operating Instructions -Reference Manual “Battery Power”) A levelcorresponding to a 100% charge for hightemperature mode is approximately equiv-alent to an 80% charge level for normaltemperature mode. The battery pack is a consumable item.If the amount of time the computer canbe run by using a particular battery packbecomes dramatically shorter and re-peated recharging does not restore itsperformance, the battery pack should bereplaced with a new one. When transporting a spare battery inside apackage, briefcase, etc., it is recommend-ed that it be placed in a plastic bag so thatits contacts are protected. Always power off the computer when it isnot in use. Leaving the computer on whenthe AC adaptor is not connected will ex-haust the remaining battery capacity. tery> To minimize deterioration of the built-inbridge battery, connect the computer to theAC adaptor and recharge it for approxi-mately 2 hours about once every year.THIS PRODUCT IS NOT INTENDED FORUSE AS, OR AS PART OF, NUCLEAREQUIPMENT/SYSTEMS, AIR TRAFFICCONTROL EQUIPMENT/SYSTEMS, AIR-CRAFT COCKPIT EQUIPMENT/SYSTEMS*1,MEDICAL DEVICES OR ACCESSORIES *2 ,LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS OR OTHEREQUIPMENTS/DEVICES/SYSTEMS THATARE INVOLVED WITH ENSURING HUMANLIFE OR SAFETY.PANASONIC WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLEFOR ANY LIABILITY RESULTING FROMTHE USE OF THIS PRODUCT ARISINGOUT OF THE FOREGOING USES.*1 AIRCRAFT COCKPIT EQUIPMENT/SYSTEMSinclude Class2 Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Sys-tems and Class1 EFB Systems when used dur-ing critical phases of flight (e.g., during take-offand landing) and/or mounted on to the aircraft.Class1 EFB Systems and 2 EFB Systems aredefined by FAA: AC (Advisory Circular) 120-76A or JAA: JAA TGL (Temporary GuidanceLeaflets) No.36.*2 As defined by the European Medical DeviceDirective (MDD) 93/42/EEC.Panasonic cannot guarantee any specifica-tions, technologies, reliability, safety (e.g.Flammability/Smoke/Toxicity/Radio Fre-quency Emission, etc) requirements relatedto aviation standards that exceed the speci-fications of our COTS (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf) products. This computer is not intended for use in medi-cal equipment including life-support systems, air traffic control systems, or other equip-ment, devices or systems that are involvedwith ensuring human life or safety.
