INSTRUCTIONSCylindrical Inductive Proximity SensorGX-M SeriesThank you for purchasing products from Panasonic. Please read thisInstruction Manual carefully and thoroughly for the correct and optimumuse of this product. Kindly keep this manual in a convenient place for quickreference.WARNING● Never use this product as a sensing device for personnel protection.● In case of using sensing devices for personnel protection, useproducts which meet laws and standards, such as OSHA, ANSIor IEC etc., for personnel protection applicable in each region orcountry.1 Cautions● This product has been developed / produced for industrial use only.● Make sure that the power supply is off while wiring.● If the power is supplied from a commercial switching regulator, ensurethat the frame ground (F.G.) terminal of the power supply is connectedto an actual ground.● Ensure that an isolation transformer is utilized for the DC powersupply. If an autotransformer is utilized, the main body or power supplymay be damaged.● If the used power supply generates a surge, connect a surge absorberto the power supply to absorb the surge.● Short-circuiting the load or wrong wiring may burn or damage theproduct.● Do not run the wires together with high-voltage lines or power linesor put them in the same raceway. This can cause malfunction due toinduction.● Avoid using the product where there are strong magnetic fields as theymay prevent the product from working according to the specification.● Verify that the supply voltage including the ripple is within the rating.● In case noise generating equipment (switching regulator, invertermotor, etc.) is used in the vicinity of this product, connect the frameground (F.G.) terminal of the equipment to an actual ground.● Do not apply stress directly to the sensor cable joint by forciblybending or pulling.● Do not use the product in dusty or dirty places or in places that areexposed to steam.● Protect the sensor from water, oil, grease, organic solvents such asthinner, etc., strong acid, and alkaline.● This product cannot be used in an environment containing inflammableor explosive gasses.● Never disassemble or modify the product.● Make the cable length as short as possible to avoid noise.2 Compliance with standards and directivesThis product complies with the following standards andregulations. For the EU: EMC Directive 2004/108/EC● For the US and Canada:ANSI/UL60947-5-2, CAN/CSA C22.2 No.14● For Korea: S1-G-1-2009, S2-W-5-2009* In case you require a UL listing mark or C-ULlisting mark, use a class 2 power supply unit.RoHS directive● This equipment complies with RoHS (CE and Chinesedirective).3 Sensor typesThe GX-M series consists of 2- and 3-wire types. Both are available ascable type or connector type (M12) and can be connected correspondinglyvia cable or connector.
