This is the earpiece.The smooth surface below the earpiece is the display. In the center below the display is the NAVIGATORcontrol, which is a large cross control with four active areas. The active areas are the 12 o’clock, 3o’clock, 6 o’clock and 9 o’clock positions. The 12 and 6 o’clock positions are UP and DOWN keysrespectively. These are also the VOLUME control increase and decrease keys. The 3 and 9 o’clockpositions are the RIGHT and LEFT arrow keys. The RIGHT arrow key is also FORWARD or EDIT key.The LEFT arrow key is also BACK key.The upper left of the NAVIGATOR control, a triangle button with a clipped edge is the TALK button. Thesmaller oval button below the TALK button is the CHANNEL button. This is also the FUNCTION orEXIT button. To the upper right of the NAVIGATOR control, an oval button is the INTERCOM button.The INTERCOM button is also the CLEAR button. The smaller oval button below the INTERCOMbutton is the FAX RECEIVE button. Below these buttons is the telephone keypad laid out in theconventional telephone arrangement with a “nib” on the 5 button. On the lower left below the keypad isthe FLASH button. The FLASH button is also the CALL WAIT or PLAYBACK button. On the lowerright of the keypad is the REDIAL button. The REDIAL button is also the PAUSE button.The indentation between the FLASH and REDIAL button is the microphone.The 2 metal ridges at the bottom of both sides of the handset are the charge contacts.The headset jack is on the left side edge of the handset, at the height between the display and TALKbutton. It has a rubber cover that is opened from front to back, and is not completely removable.Base unitWith the base unit facing you, the antennas should be straight up on the both sides, towards the back ofthe unit. The handset’s charging cradle is on the left of the base unit. This is a deep depression near thefront. For charging, the bottom of the handset gets put into the cradle with the handset buttons facing up.The handset must be placed in the cradle in an upright position. The unit will beep when the handset isproperly placed in the cradle for charging.
