If you call your home phone from outside to listen to new messages usingremote operation (page 35), you will know that there are no new messages when thephone rings for the 3rd time. You can then hang up without being charged for the call.For landline voicemail service subscribersTo receive voicemail and use the answering system properly, please note the following:R To use your landline phone service provider’s voicemail service (page 48) rather than theunit’s answering system, turn off the answering system (page 32).R To use the base unit’s answering system rather than your landline phone service provider’svoicemail service, please ask the service provider to deactivate your voicemail service.If your landline phone service provider cannot do this:– Set the answering system’s [Number of rings] setting (page 38) so that it answers callsbefore your landline’s voicemail service does. It is necessary to check the number of ringsrequired to activate your landline’s voicemail service before changing this setting.– Increase the number of rings required for your landline phone service provider’s voicemailservice, so that the base unit’s answering system can answer calls before your landline’svoicemail service does.
