Additional handsets willgive you the freedom to, for example, havean intercom call with another handset whilea third handset is on an outside call. Seepage 5 for information on ordering additionalhandsets.Additional base unitsHandsets can be registered to up to 4 baseunits, allowing you to add additional baseunits and extend the area in which yourhandset(s) can be used. If a handset movesout of range of its base unit when “Auto” isselected on base unit selection (page 34), itwill look for another base unit to make orreceive calls. A base unit and the handsets itcommunicates with is called a “radio cell”.Note:L Calls will be disconnected when thehandset moves from one radio cell toanother.L Intercom calls and call transfers are onlypossible between handsets in the sameradio cell.Registering a handset to abase unitTo register an additional handset to abase unit (easy registration)The included handset and base unit arepreregistered. After purchasing anadditional handset, register it to the baseunit. Ensure that the additional handset isswitched on. If it is not on, press and hold{ih} for few seconds to turn the handseton.1 Lift the additional handset and press{ih} to put the handset in standbymode.2 Press and hold {x} on the base unit forabout 3 seconds, until the registrationtone sounds.3 Place the additional handset on thebase unit. The registration tonecontinues to sound. With the handsetstill on the base unit, wait until aconfirmation tone sounds and w stopsflashing.Note:L If an error tone sounds, or if w is stillflashing, register the handset manually(manual registration; page 33).L If all registered handsets start ringing instep 2, press {x} to stop. Start again fromstep 1.L Charge the batteries of your additionalhandset for about 7 hours before initialuse.L This registration method cannot be usedfor handsets that have already beenregistered to a base unit.
