29Useful InformationBefore Requesting HelpProblemThe unit does not work.You cannot dial.The unit does not ring.The other party suddenlycannot hear your voice duringa conversation.You cannot store a phonenumber in memory.(REDIAL/PAUSE) does notfunction properly.You cannot have aconversation using theoptional headset.You cannot have aconversation using thehandset or speakerphone.Remedy• Check the settings (p. 6–10).• Dial lock mode is set. To cancel themode, see page 22–24.• The dialled number is restricted. Tocancel, see page 26.• The ringer is set to OFF. Set to ON(p. 8).• (MUTE) may have been pressedduring the conversation. If “ ” isdisplayed, press (MUTE).• Check that the handset is off thecradle.• Do not enter a phone number morethan 21 digits long, or the enterednumber will be erased.• The button has a double function aseither redial or pause. It will redial thelast number dialled if pressed at theoutset of a call (p. 12). If anothernumber has been dialled first, it willoperate as a pause button (p. 20).• Make sure that the optional headsetis connected properly (p. 27).• Press (SP-PHONE/HEADSET) to makeor answer a call.• If you lift the handset and put it backon the cradle, the call will bedisconnected.• When the optional headset is pluggedinto the unit (p. 27), you must use theheadset to talk with the caller.To have a normal phoneconversation, disconnect the optionalheadset before making or answeringa call.
