(P48)• If the distance between the camera andthe subject is beyond the focus range ofthe camera, the picture may not beproperly focused even if the focusindication lights.• In the following cases, the camera will notfocus on subjects properly.– When there are both near and distantsubjects in a scene.– When there is dirt or dust on glassbetween the lens and the subject.– When there are illuminated or glitteringobjects around the subject.– When taking a picture in dark places.– When the subject is moving fast.– When the scene has low contrast.– When jitter occurs.– When recording a very bright subject.We recommend taking pictures using AF/AE lock. In dark places, the AF assistlamp (P78) may turn on to focus on thesubject.• Even when the focus indication appearsand the subject is focused, it is canceled ifyou release the shutter button. Press theshutter button halfway again.w Preventing jitter (camera shake)• Be careful of jittering when pressing theshutter button.• If jitter could occur because of slowshutter speed, the jitter alert appears.• When the jitter alert appears, werecommend using a tripod. If you cannotuse a tripod, be careful how you hold thecamera (P24). The use of the self-timerprevents jittering caused by pressing theshutter button when you are using a tripod(P43).• Shutter speed will be slower particularly inthe following cases.
