GPSUsing the GPS function to record the location of a pictureVQT5E94- 260 -■Information to be recorded on the picturesWhen the camera successfully executes positioning, it records the following informationin still pictures and motion pictures*.• Location information (latitude and longitude)• Place name information (Country/region, province/state, city/borough/county, town/village, landmark)*Only the information determined at the time when the recording was started is recorded.Additionally, it will be recorded to AVCHD motion pictures that have motion picture quality settingswithout the [ ] in the motion picture icon. (→153)● [ ] (with location information) and/or [ ] (with place name information) isdisplayed during playback for pictures that are recorded with location or place nameinformation.● The location information and place name information are not recorded on picturesthat are recorded when the positioning result icon [ ] is displayed.● Only the location information will be recorded for pictures recorded immediatelyafter positioning was executed successfully (until place name information appears).However, even if positioning failed during recording, location information may berecorded later once the position becomes available.• During playback, you can add the place name information to pictures recordedwith only the location information.■Place name informationThe place name displayed for place name information is determined by searching forplace names and landmarks from the database of this camera based on the latitudeand longitude of positioning. (In some cases, the nearest place name or landmark maynot be displayed.)• Nearby place names and landmarks may be displayed instead of your actual locationdepending on the detected position.• [---] may be displayed even if positioning is executed successfully depending on thedetected position. In some cases, you can select place name information by using[GPS Area Select]. (→263)• There are also cases where the landmarks you are looking for may not be registeredin the camera database.
