- 25 - Service ManualServiceman Mode (Electronic Controls)This Receiver has electronic technology using the I²CBus Concept. It performs as a control function and itreplaces many mechanical controls. Instead ofadjusting mechanical controls individually, many of thecontrol functions are now performed by using “OnScreen Display Menu”. (The Serviceman AdjustmentMode.) Note: It is suggested that the technicianreads all the way through andunderstand the following procedure forEntering/Exiting the ServicemanAdjustment Mode; then proceed withthe instructions working with theReceiver. When becoming familiarwith the procedure, the Flow Chart forServiceman Mode may be used as aquick guide.Quick Entry to Serviceman Mode:When minor adjustments need to be done to theelectronic controls, the method of Entering theserviceman Mode without removal of the cabinet backis as follows using the Remote Control:1. Select SET-UP icon and select CABLE mode.2. Select TIMER icon and set SLEEP time for 30 Min.3. Press “ACTION” twice to exit menus.4. Tune to the Channel 124.5. Adjust VOLUME to minimum (0).6. Press VOL (decrease) on Receiver. Red“CHK” appears in upper corner.Note: After Receiver is set into SERVICEMANmode, set TIMER back to NO.7. Press Power on the Remote Control to displaythe Serviceman Adjustment Modes menu, selectadjustment by pressing the volume right/leftbuttons and channel up/down buttons on theremote and ACTION to enter the adjustment.Note: Some adjustments are available onlyin some modes (480i, 480p, 1080i); itis needed to apply the format; Forsome adjustments is required toperform adjustment for each format;Perform convergence adjustment forall formats (480i, 480p, 1080i “aspect16:9 & 4:3”), a 480i, 480p, 1080i testpattern can be obtained fromPanasonicTU-DST51A (Set-top box).Exiting the Serviceman Mode:Press Action and Power on the Receiversimultaneously for at least 2 seconds.THE RECEIVER EXITS SERVICEMAN MODE.The Receiver momentarily shuts off; then comes backon tuned to channel 3 with a preset level of sound.Any programmed channels, channels caption data andsome others user defined settings will be erased.To Check Purity:Press Recall on the Remote Control when inServiceman Mode (red “CHK” is displayed) to enter thePurity Field Check Mode.To toggle between Aging andServiceman modes:While the “CHK” is displayed on the left topcorner of the CRT, pressing “ACTION” and“VOL” UP on the TV simultaneously will togglebetween the modes.
