60ABOUT THE HDD SAFETY MODEWhen maintaining or installing/uninstalling this unit in/fromthe rack without turning the power of the unit off, do theabove work operation after setting the HDD SAFETY MODEto ON.This can be set on the "Disk Info." menu of "Maintenance".Refer to page XX for further information.ImportantThe HDDs will not start up with the default setting wheninstalling this unit in the rack without turning the power ofthe unit off, to prevent malfunction caused by shock orvibration.After completing the installation, set the HDD SAFETYMODE to OFF. Otherwise, the unit will be unable to operatewhen turning the power on after the shutdown caused byunexpected incident such as power outage.Operating the unit for the first timeDo the followings when operating the unit for the first time.ImportantWhen connecting an optional extension unit (WJ-HDE300series), turn the power of the extension unit before turningthe power of this unit on.z Turn the POWER switch on the rearpanel of the unit on.The OPERATE indicator will light and the system check willstart.The splash window (as shown below) will be displayed onthe monitor 2 and the VGA monitor.When the system check has been completed, the HDDSAFETY MODE window (as shown below) will be displayed.The camera selection buttons on the front panel (1 - 16 forWJ-HD316, 1 – 9, 0 for WJ-HD309) will light green andorange (for 2 seconds each) alternately.x Move the cursor to OFF using thearrows button (A B) and press theSET button.The unit will restart automatically and the system checkcomplete window will be displayed.c Press the SET button after thesystem check complete window isdisplayed.The HDD DISK MENU window will be displayed.Perform the settings with this menu according to yourneeds.Refer to page XX for further information.After completing the settings, press any button to close theHDD DISK MENU.The login window will be displayed.
