ACCULINK 3172 and 3174 E1 DSU/CSU3-20 March 1999 3170-A2-GB20-30Configuring DS0 ChannelsThe E1 DSU/CSU provides channel configurationoptions that allow you to do the following:• Display the DS0 assignments for the Network, DTEDrop/Insert, and data port interfaces.• Allocate DS0 channels on the DTE Drop/Insertinterface to the Network interface.• Allocate DS0 channels on the Network or DTEDrop/Insert interface to particular data ports.• Specify whether time-slot 16 (TS16) is reserved forsignaling information.• Clear (deallocate) all DS0 channels from theNetwork, DTE Drop/Insert, or data port interface.• Map data from one port to another.NOTEIf TS16 is reserved for signaling,D16 will automatically beassigned to N16, and DTE DS0channels allocated to the networkinterface must be connected tothe corresponding channel (e.g.,D1 to N1, D2 to N2, etc.).To allocate DS0 channels, begin by defining the logicalchannel configuration for the Network interface, and thenthe DTE Drop/Insert interface, and then any ports, ifdesired. See Figures 3-6 and 3-8 for examples ofconceptual diagrams of channel configurations.Blank configuration worksheets are provided at theback of Appendix C, Configuration Options. To completethe configuration worksheets for DS0 channel allocation:1. Complete the Network E1 Interface and the DTEDrop/Insert Interface tables (unless the DTEDrop/Insert interface is disabled) as shown in theexamples in Figures 3-7 and 3-9.2. Using the worksheets shown in Figures 3-10and 3-11, circle the configuration options neededto implement the logical channel configuration.Once you have completed the worksheets, enter thisinformation using the procedures in the Allocating DataPorts section on page 3-28. Configuration options arelisted in Appendix C.
