7AIR SYSTEMSFor air-powered tools to work their best, the airsupply system must be properly installed andmaintained regularly. A drawing in this sectionshows a properly installed air supply system.Handy checklists for installing and maintainingair supply systems follow.Indoor Air System Installation-Be certain that:s All pipes supplying air have a large enoughinside diameter to ensure adequate air supply.s The main supply pipe slopes down, away fromthe compressor (1/16 inch per foot).s Air storage is provided along lengthy air lines.s Pipe line branch outlets are at the top of themain pipe line.s Cutoff valves are provided at each branch pipeline throughout the system.s Water legs extend from the bottom of each branchline.s A refrigerant-type dryer is installed on the system.s Air hoses are kept as short as practical.s A regular maintenance program is followed.Outdoor Air System Installation-Be certain that:s A moisture trap and a filter/regulator/lubricator areinstalled at the compressor.s Air hoses and fittings are large enough so that airflow is not restricted. Minimum hose size is 3/8inch ID with 1/2 inch ID hose used for anyapplication over 25 feet.s Air hoses are not longer than 150 feet.s The air system is lubricated regularly.s A regular maintenance program is followed.Filter/Regulator/Lubricator UnitsFilter/regulator/lubricator units that can supplyenough air and protection for Paslode toolsmust meet the following specifications:s Minimum 3/8 inch NPT port size .s 50 micron or fine filters.s Regulated pressure from zero to 120 psi.s Lubricators designed for low or changingairflow.
