DONOT ATTEMPT TO OPERATE THE TOOL UNTILYOU READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL SAFETYPRECAUTIONS AND MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS.WEAR EYE AND HEARING PROTECTIONAlways wear hearing and eye protection devices,including side shields, when operating or working inthe vicinity of a tool.THE TOOL MUST BE USED ONLY FOR THEPURPOSE FOR WHICH IT WAS DESIGNEDDo not throw the tool on the floor, strike the housingin any way or use the tool as a hammer to knockmaterial into place.NEVER ENGAGE IN HORSEPLAY WITH THETOOLThe tool is not a toy so do not use it like one. Neverengage in horseplay with the tool or point it atyourself or any other person, even if you think it isnot loaded.NEVER ASSUME THE TOOL IS EMPTYCheck the magazine for fasteners that may be left inthe tool. Even if you think the tool is empty ordisconnected, never point it at anyone or yourself.Unseen fasteners could fire from the tool.NEVER CLAMP THE TRIGGER IN A LOCKED OROPERATING POSITIONThe trigger of the tool must never be tampered with,disabled or clamped in a locked or operating positionsince this will cause the tool to drive a fastener anytime the work contacting element depressed.DO NOT LOAD FASTENERS WITH THE AIR LINECONNECTED, OR WITH THE TOOL TRIGGER ORWORK CONTACTING ELEMENT DEPRESSEDWhen loading fasteners into the tool be sure youdisconnect the air line and that you do not depressthe trigger or work contacting element.OPERATE THE TOOL ONLY ON A WORKPIECEThe tool should be operated only when it is incontact with the workpiece. Even then you shouldbe careful when fastening thin material or workingnear the edges and corners of the workpiece sincethe fasteners may drive through or away from theworkpiece.DO NOT DISABLE OR REMOVE THE WORKCONTACTING ELEMENTThis tool is equipped with a safety mechanism,called a work contacting element, to help preventaccidental firing. Never tamper with, disable orremove the work contacting element. Do not use thetool unless the work contacting element is workingproperly. The tool could fire unexpectedly.DISCONNECT THE TOOL WHEN NOT IN USEAlways disconnect the tool from the air line when it isnot in use or when you leave the work area. The toolshould never be left unattended because people whoare not familiar with the tool might handle it andinjure themselves or others.CARRY THE TOOL ONLY BY THE HANDLEAlways carry the tool by the handle only. Never carrythe tool by the air hose or with the trigger depressedsince you could drive a fastener unintentionally andinjure yourself or someone else.DO NOT WEAKEN THE TOOL HOUSINGThe tool housing is a pressure vessel and should neverbe weakened by having your company’s name, area ofwork or anything else stamped or engraved into itssurface.DISCONNECT THE TOOL WHEN PERFORMINGREPAIRS AND CLEARING JAMSNever attempt to clear a jam or repair a tool unless youhave disconnected the tool from the air line andremoved all remaining fasteners from the tool.ALWAYS USE THE PROPER FITTING FOR THETOOLOnly MALE pneumatic type air connectors should befitted to the tool, so that high pressure air in the tool isvented to atmosphere as soon as the air line isdisconnected.NEVER install FEMALE quick disconnect couplings onthe tool. Female couplings will trap high pressure air inthe tool when the air line is disconnected, leaving thetool charged and able to drive at least one fastener.DO NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM RECOMMENDEDAIR PRESSUREOperate the tool only at the recommended air pres-sure. Do not exceed the maximum air pressure markedon the tool. Be sure the air pressure gauge isoperating properly and check it at least twice a day.Never use any bottled air or gases such as oxygen tooperate the tool since they could cause the tool toexplode.KEEP THE TOOL CLEAN AND LUBRICATEDClean the tool at least daily and lubricate as required.Never operate a dirty or malfunctioning tool.USE ONLY PASLODE RECOMMENDED PARTS ANDFASTENERSUse only parts and fasteners specifically designed andrecommended by Paslode for use in the tool and forwork to be done. Using unauthorized parts andfasteners or modifying the tool in any way createsdangerous situations. Replace all missing warninglabels---refer to tool schematic for correct placementand part number.4
