(See section“Making coffee”.)- When you use the appliance for the first time,make sure the water reservoir is only half full.- Next, clean the removable parts as described insection “Cleaning”.Cleaning• You can clean the Café Gourmet with a dampcloth. Always remove the plug from the mainsoutlet before cleaning the appliance.• The removable parts can be washed in hotsoapy water. Rinse with clean hot water and dry.Making coffee- Take the jug (with lid) out of the appliance.- Open the cover of the water tank.- Fill the water tank with the required quantity ofwater using the jug (fig. 2). (Ensure that thewater level is not lower than the minimum markand not higher than the maximum mark.)Use fresh cold water only.Always close the hinged lid of the cover afterfilling the water tank to allow the appliance tofunction properly.The left hand side level indications correspondwith large cups (125 ml).The right hand side level indications correspondwith smaller cups (85 ml).4EnglishImportant• Before connecting the appliance, pleasecheck if the voltage indicated on theappliance corresponds with the mainsvoltage in your home.• Do not place the appliance on a hot surface.• Remove the mains plug from the wallsocket:- if problems occur during making coffee;- before cleaning the appliance.• Do not allow the mains cord to come intocontact with hot surfaces.• Use the appliance out of children’s reach.Prevent them from pulling the mains cord.• Never use the appliance if the mainsplug, the mains cord or the applianceitself is damaged.• To maintain perfect performance of theunique “Café Gourmet” brewing system,it is of the greatest importance that youdescale the appliance regularly.• If the mains cord is damaged, it must bereplaced by Philips, a service centreauthorised by Philips or similarly qualifiedpersons in order to avoid a hazard.For the best results we advise to let thevinegar run through the coffeemakertwice. (See also section “Descaling”.)• Never immerse the appliance in water.(See section “Cleaning”.)• Fill the water tank with fresh cold wateronly. Always close the hinged lid of thecover after filling the water tank to allowthe appliance to function properly.• When you intend to take the Café tosome other place, first remove the mainsplug from the wall socket. Then removethe appliance plug from the appliance.
