54 Flushing themachine before firstuseIt is important that you flush your SENSEO® coffeemachine before first use. After the flushing cycle,the machine is ready for brewing SENSEO® coffee.C Caution:Never interrupt the flushing cycle halfway. If youdo, the boiler does not fill itself properly.1 Tilt the water reservoir backwards (1) and liftthe water reservoir off the machine (2).2 Fill the water reservoir.• Always put the machine on aflat and stable surface. Keep itin upright position, also duringtransport.• Do not place the machine on ahotplate, directly next to a hotoven or similar source of heat.• Do not keep the machine attemperatures below 0°. Water leftin the heating system may freezeand cause damage.• Never pour milk, coffee, hot wateror carbonated water into thewater reservoir.• Never put normal ground coffeeor use torn pods in the machine,as this causes it to becomeblocked.• Never flush the machine or let itbrew coffee when the spout is notin place.• This machine is intended fornormal household use only.It is not intended for use inenvironments such as staffkitchens of shops, offices, farmsor other work environments.Nor is it intended to be used byclients in hotels, motels, bed andbreakfasts and other residentialenvironments.3.1 Compliance with standardsThis Philips machine complies with all applicablestandards and regulations regarding exposure toelectromagnetic fields.The energy consumption of this machine inoff mode is less than 0,5 watt.
