The digital display on the wall control will tellyou what your appliance is doing in the upper left corner(System Status). Figure 10.1.READY73 Set at: 7312:30 PMHEAT OUTPUTMENUSystem StatusEvery time the thermostat calls for heat, the appliance stepsthrough five cycles:1 Start-Up Cycle 4 Shutdown Cycle2 Soft-Start Cycle 5 Auto-Clean Cycle3 Heating CycleThe duration and characteristics of these cycles may be dif-ferent with each type of fuel selected.Figure 10.1WARNING! RISK OF FIRE!Do NOT operate appliance:• With appliance door open• With firepot floor open• With ash pan removed1. Start-Up CycleDuring this cycle:• Igniter turns on for 90 seconds to heat up the air in thefirepot• Combustion blower starts• Vacuum switch comes on• Feed motor turns on adding fuel to the firepot and theappliance waits for the fire to startThe duration of start-up depends on the type and quality offuel used. It is normal to see some smoke during the igni-tion process as moisture evaporates and the fuel lights. Thesmoke will stop once the fire starts.2. Soft Start Cycle (SS-Low / SS-Med)Once the fire is lit:• The appliance moves into the low soft-start cycle as itcontinues to build the fire• More fuel will be added• As the fire builds, the appliance will change to mediumsoft-start mode• The heating cycle begins3. Heating Cycle ( Auto / Man - L, ML, M, MH, H)There are two choices in the Automatic / Manual menu ofhow your appliance will operate:Automatic Mode• The wall control will turn the heat output level up or downdepending on how far the room temperature is from thedesired temperature• The digital display will read AUTO:M, i.e. automatic-medi-um level• As the room temperature approaches the desired tem-perature, the appliance will turn down to lower settings• When the home reaches your set temperature, the appli-ance will go into the shutdown cycle
