Install the wall band in the framing to secure thechimney section in place.Insert a single section of chimney connector into the chimneythrough the wall band, being sure it does not protrude into thechimney beyond the edge of the chimney flue lining.Apply high temperature furnace cement to the end of thechimney section and install it over the connector, through thewall spacer. Tighten the wall band to hold the chimney sectionfirmly in place and against the chimney.Install the trim collar on the outside of the opening. A 1 inch(25mm) air space between the connector and the chimneysection must be maintained.During installation a 2 inch (51mm) air space to the woodframing is maintained. Do not fill this space with insulation.Insulation in this air space will cause a heat buildup whichmay ignite the wood framing.SOLID PACK CHIMNEY WITH METALSUPPORTS AS A THIMBLE (CONT'D)Chimney FlueLinerFireclayLiner orEquivalentMasonry ChimneyConstructed to NFPA 211Wall SpacerWall BandTrim CollarChimneyConnector1" (25mm) AirSpace to ChimneySectionMin. Look for a listed kit. The kit is anadapter which is installed at the location of the fireplacedamper. The existing damper may have to be removed toallow installation of the kit.The key points of this type of stove connection are: 1) thatthe connector pipe must extend up the chimney above wherethe fire clay liner starts, and 2) the areas of the kit installationand penetration should fit tightly and be sealed with hightemperature furnace cement unless the kit’s instructions stateotherwise. (See Figure 14C). The tight fitting installationaids the proper draw of the chimney.Horizontal Flue Heat Shield, AccessoryPart HTSHLD-7006 is required for rear ventinstallations.Figure 14BFigure 14C
