Most seatsare attached to the power base with the Universal Mount-ing System (UMS). The UMS consists of universal partsthat may be attached to any medium-back or high-backseat, regardless of seat width or seat depth. The two maincomponents are aluminum extrusions mounted to the seatbase. These extrusions attach to a pair of trapeze bars thatare mounted to the power base. See figure 11. If your powerchair is equipped with a Synergy Seating System or a Syn-ergy TRU-Balance Power Positioning System, refer to theinformation provided in separate manuals.WARNING! Do not pick up the seat frameby the armrests. They are free to pivot,and you may lose control of the seat ifthey do so, resulting in personal injuryor damage to the chair.To install the seat:1. Tilt the seat back and slide the rear extrusion onto therear trapeze bar. See figure 11.2. Lower the front extrusion onto the power chair base orfront trapeze bar until the seat locks into place.3. Flip the seat latch safety down. See figure 11.WARNING! Make sure the seat latchsafety is flipped down before using yourpower chair.4. Install the controller and route the cable to the back ofthe power base.5. Turn the rear shroud fasteners anticlockwise one-quar-ter turn and remove the rear shroud. See figure 6.6. Plug the controller connector into the power base. Seefigure 7.7. Reinstall the rear shroud. Turn the rear shroud fastenersclockwise one-quarter turn. See figure 6.8.
