Chapter 2 Basic OperationsRelocating the DXi3500 and DXi5500 SystemsQuantum DXi3500 and DXi5500 User’s Guide 25Relocating the DXi3500 and DXi5500 SystemsIf you ever need to install the DXi3500 or DXi5500 system to a differentlocation, refer to the Quantum DXi3500 and DXi5500 Quick Start Guide PN81-81700 included on the documentation CD. These instructions includehardware installation and cabling as well as initial softwareconfiguration.Data ReplicationData replication is the process of creating and managing duplicateversions of your data. The replication process not only copies the data butalso allows you to schedule the replication process so it can runautomatically. For optimization purposes, the underlying data iscontinuously updated and will become available when the replication iseither run manually or via a scheduled replication. When replication isconfigured on the DXi3500 or DXi5500, copies of a VTL partition or NASshare can be copied to a remote DXi system (see Data Replication onpage 105).• Data Recovery• Data FailbackNote: Data replication is a licensed feature for the DXi3500 andDXi5500. Contact your Quantum Sales representative for moreinformation on purchasing this option.Note: For more information on setting up your systems for datareplication, see chapter 5, Implementing a Data ReplicationPlan
