26 chapter 4Chapter 4 The Menu SystemThe DVD Player Menu SystemThe DVD player menu system is not the same as the disc menu or the Info Display. The DVDplayer menu comes up when there is no disc playing. If you are playing a disc, press STOP onthe remote control to stop playback and bring up the DVD player menu.Path ItemsA path menu item has an arrow on the right side to letyou know this item is a path to MORE options. To seethe path menu options, highlight the menu item andpress OK. The next set of menu choices appears to theright of the menu item.Use the arrow buttons on the remote to navigatethrough the menu system. Press the OK button toselect highlighted items. To make the menu disappearfrom the screen, press CLEAR.Play Mode MenuDiscs are formatted to play chapters (or tracks onaudio CDs) in a certain (standard) order. If you’d like toplay chapters in a different order, you can use the PlayMode feature. You must have a disc in the player withthe disc tray closed in order to access all of the PlayMode items.Standard PlayThe DVD Player’s default play mode is standard,meaning the chapters and tracks on a disc play in theorder listed on the disc — starting with chapter ( ortrack) 1.
