Graphics contained within this publication are for representation only.Chapter 6 47Using the TV’s Menu SystemSetup MenuThe Setup menu lets you configure the TV/DVD to fit its surroundings and yourpreferences. To access the Setup menu, press MENU on the remote, and thenselect Setup from the main menu.Channel setupSignal Type The TV chooses the signal type during the initial setup. If youchange how you receive broadcasts through the antenna input, you mustchange the Signal type setting. Choose Cable if you are using cable or acable box for TV signals. Choose UHF/VHF Antenna if you are using an off-air antenna for TV signals.Auto channel search Searches for channels the signal is receiving. Go topage 15 for more information.Auto channel update Searches for any new channels that are not in yourchannel list and adds them to the list.List and labels Edit the channels in the list or choose labels for eachchannel. Go to page 15 for more information.PreferencesLanguage Displays a choice list that lets you select your preferredlanguage for the menus: English, Español or Français.Maximum TV volume Allows you to set how high volume turns up whenyou press the VOL+ button. Highlight Maximum volume, then press andhold OK to hear the maximum volume. Make sure the volume has not beenmuted or turned down all the way.Curtain effect Reveals the picture by "opening" it from the middle of thescreen when the TV/DVD is switched on. Hides the picture by "closing" itfrom the sides when the TV/DVD is switched off.Internal DVD player The internal DVD player can be enabled or disabled.If, for example, you're using the TV/DVD with an external DVD player,and you've programmed the remote to work with that player, then you candisable the internal DVD player so that it isn't activated by the buttons onyour remote. Then you can use your TV remote with your external DVDplayer without the internal DVD player interfering. To enable or disablethe internal DVD player, highlight Internal DVD player, then press the OKbutton for five seconds.Special features The Auto on setting switches your TV/DVD on after apower outage; Auto channel tunes the TV to the channel you specify as theInitial channel when Auto on is enabled; Auto volume tunes the TV to thevolume you set in Initial volume when Auto on is enabled.Short-term vs. Long-termPower OutagesThe Auto channel and Auto volume settingsdon’t take effect after short-term poweroutages (usually less than two to threeminutes).
