7Your local RadioShack store sells avariety of CB antennas (for both mo-bile and base-station use), coaxialantenna cable, and connectors.Connecting the AntennaOnce you choose an antenna, followthe mounting instructions suppliedwith it.Warning: Use extreme caution whenyou install or remove a base stationCB antenna. If the antenna starts tofall, let it go! It could contact over-head power lines. If the antennatouches the power line, contact withthe antenna, mast, cable, or guywires can cause electrocution anddeath. Call the power company to re-move the antenna. DO NOT attemptto do so yourself.Then route the antenna cable to theCB and connect the cable to the AN-TENNA jack on the back of the CB.Cautions:• Do not run the cable over sharpedges or moving parts.• Do not run the cable next topower cables or other CBantenna cables.• Do not run the cable through avehicle’s engine compartment orother areas that produceextreme heat.CONNECTING ANOPTIONAL EXTERNALSPEAKERTo make the CB easier to hear innoisy environments, you can connectit to an external CB speaker. Use an8-ohm speaker capable of handling3–5 watts of power (such as Ra-dioShack Cat. No. 21-549).
