2THE FCC WANTS YOU TOKNOWYour radio might cause TV or radio interfer-ence even when it is operating properly. Todetermine whether your radio is causing theinterference, turn off your radio. If the interfer-ence goes away, your radio is causing it. Tryto eliminate the interference by:• moving your radio away from the receiver• connecting your radio to an outlet that ison a different electrical circuit from thereceiver• contacting your local RadioShack storefor helpIf you cannot eliminate the interference, theFCC requires that you stop using your radio.This device complies with Part 15 of theFCCRules. Operation is subject to the followingtwo conditions: (1) this device may not causeharmful interference, and (2) this device mustaccept any interference received, including in-terference that may cause undesired opera-tion.CONNECTING POWERUsing BatteriesYour radio requires six D batteries (not sup-plied) for power. For the best performanceand longest life, we recommend RadioShackalkaline batteries.Cautions:• Use only fresh batteries of the requiredsize and recommended type.• Do not mix old and new batteries, differ-ent types of batteries (standard, alkaline,or rechargeable), or rechargeable batter-ies of different capacities.1. Press the battery compartment covertabs in the direction of the arrows and pullthe cover open.2. Place three D batteries in the lower levelof the battery compartment, on top of theribbon, and three D batteries on top of thefirst three batteries, matching the polaritysymbols (+ and –) marked inside.3. Replace the cover and set AC/DC on theback of radio to DC.When the sound becomes weak or distortedor the radio stops operating properly, replacethe batteries.Warning: Dispose of old batteries promptlyand properly. Do not burn or bury them.Caution: If you do not plan to use the radiowith batteries for a week or more, remove thebatteries.
