For longest operation, we recommend alkalinebatteries such as RadioShack Cat. No. 23-551.Follow these steps to install the batteries.1. Press the two latches on the battery compartment cover and pull it offin the direction indicated by the arrows.2. Place four C batteries in the compartment as indicated by the polaritysymbols (+ and -) marked in the compartment.CAUTIONS: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type.Never mix fresh with old batteries, or chargeable withnon-chargeable batteries.Never leave dead or weak batteries in the radio. Theymight leak chemicals that can damage your radio and corrodeelectronic circuits. If you do not plan to use the radiofor a week or more, remove and store the batteries.3. Replace the battery compartment cover.Using AC PowerTo power the radio with standard AC power, use the supplied power cord.Connect one end of the cord to the radio AC jack and the other end to astandard AC outlet.To prevent electric shock, one blade on the AC power cord's plug is widerthan the other and the plug only fits one way. If you cannot easilyinsert the plug, turn it over and try again. Do not force it.Note: Internal batteries (if installed) automatically disconnect when youplug the power cord into the radio.
