26Positioning the CookerThe diagrams below show the minimum recommendeddistance from the cooker to nearby surfaces. The cooker should not be placed on a base. The hotplate surround should be level with, or above, any adjacent work surface. Above hotplate level a gapof 75mm should be left between each side of the cookerand any adjacent vertical surface. For non-combustible surfaces (such as unpainted metalor ceramic tiles) this can be reduced to 25mm.A minimum space of 650mm is required between thetop of the hotplate and a horizontal combustible surface.*Any cooker hood should be installed in accordancewith the hood manu fac turer’s instructions.Surfaces of furniture and walls at the sides and rearof the appliance should be heat, splash and steamresistant. Certain types of vinyl or laminate kitchenfurniture are particularly prone to heat damage anddiscolouration. We cannot accept responsibility fordamage caused by normal use of the cooker to anymaterial that de-laminates or discolours at temperaturesless than 65°C above room temperature. For safety reasons curtains must not be fittedimmediately behind the cooker. We recommend a gap of 910mm between units toallow for moving the cooker. If a flush fit is required, fitthe cooker up to the unit at one side then fit the unitthe other side. Do not box the cooker in; it must still bepossible to move the cooker in and out for cleaning andservicing. The cooker should not be placed on a base.A clearance of 130mm is required if the cooker is near acorner of the kitchen to allow the oven doors to open.Unpacking the CookerDo not take any packaging off the cooker until it isdirectly in front of the place it is to be installed (unless itwill not fit through a door in its outer packaging).Cut the banding straps and lift the cardboard box off thecooker, LEAVING THE COOKER STANDING ON THEBASE PACKAGING. See the loose unpacking sheet.Moving the CookerThe cooker is very heavy. Take great care.We recommend two people manoeuvre the cooker.Ensure that the floor covering is firmly fixed, or removedto prevent it being disturbed when moving the cookeraround. You will need the levelling tool. From the back tilt the cooker forward and remove therear half of the polystyrene base pack.Repeat from the front and remove the front half of theLOWER THE TWO REAR ROLLERS.First fi t the levelling tool on the hexagonal adjusting nutas shown below.Make 10 complete (360º) turns clockwise.
