Although theceramic surface is very strong, a sharp blow or sharp fallingobject (e.g. a salt cellar) might cause the surface to crack orbreak (Fig. 1.3).nn Should a crack appear in the surface, disconnect theappliance immediately from the supply and arrangefor its repair.Always LIFT pans off the hob. Sliding pans may cause marksand scratches (Fig. 1.4). Always turn the control to the OFFposition before removing a pan.nn Take care when placing hot lids onto the hobsurface. Lids that have been covering boiling orsteaming foods can ‘stick’ to the ceramic glass.Should this occur, DO NOT attempt to lift the lidoff the hotplate: this may damage the hob surface.Instead, slide the lid to the edge of the hob surfaceand remove.DO NOT place anything between the base of the pan and thehob surface (e.g. asbestos mats, aluminium foil, wok stand).nn Take care NOT to place metallic objects such asknives, forks, spoons and lids on the hob surfacesince they can get hot.nn The appliance is not intended to be operated bymeans of external timer or separated remote-controlsystem.Cooker CareAs steam can condense to water droplets on the cool outertrim of the oven, it may be necessary during cooking to wipeaway any moisture with a soft cloth.
