Be sure the area behind isclear.i) Stop the blade(s) if the mower has to be tilted fortransportation, when crossing surfaces other thangrass and when transporting the mower to andfrom the area to be mowed.j) Never operate the mower without proper guards,plates, grass catcher or other safety protectivedevices in place.k) Do not change the engine governor settings oroverspeed the engine.l) Disengage all blade and drive clutches beforestarting the engine.m) Start the engine or switch on the motor carefullyaccording to instructions and with feet well awayfrom the blade(s).n) Do not start the engine when standing in front of thedischarge chute.o) Do not put hands or feet near or under rotatingparts. Refuel outdoors only. Do not smoke. Use a funnel. Do not overfill. Clean up spillsand move machine away from spills beforestarting. Replace caps tightly.d) Replace faulty mufflers.e) Before using, always visually inspect to see that theblades, blade bolts and cutter assembly are notworn or damaged. Replace worn or damagedblades and bolts.f) On multi-bladed machines, take care as rotatingone blade can cause other blades to rotate.g) Disengage the self-propelled mechanism or driveclutch on units so equipped before starting theengine (motor).h) Never attempt to make adjustments while theengine (motor) is running.i) Never operate the equipment in wet grass.
