i. Insert the tiller pin through the tiller arm hole so that theflange remains above the arm.ii. Ensure the tiller pin is a tight fit in the tiller arm. Raymarinerecommends the use of a suitable adhesive around the tillerpin.iii. Use the supplied lock washer and fully tighten the lock nut to27 Nm (20 lb ft).2. The holemust be of the diameter specified above.Steering checkOnce the hydraulic ram is mounted you must perform a steeringcheck to ensure the ram has been mounted correctly.Turn your vessel’s steering wheel from hardover to hardover andcheck the following:• Angular movement of the ball end fitting is less than 10 degreesfor the Type 2 drive, or 5 degrees for the Type 3 drive. If thislimit is exceeded the drive will catch on the tiller arm or rudderquadrant and the ball joint will bind.• Ensure no part of the drive unit fouls your vessel’s structure whenthe push rod moves in and out.• Ensure that the total rudder movement is limited to +/- 35 degreesby the steering system end stops, rather than the linear drive’send limits.Mounting 25
