22SECTION H: GAS SUPPLY CONNECTIONSDANGER: Make sure the gas on which the boiler will operate is the same type as specified on the boilermodel and rating plate.Gas piping must have a sediment trap ahead of the boiler gas controls, and a manual shut-off valve located outside theheater jacket. A pounds to inches regulator must be installed to reduce to gas supply pressure to under 14" W.C. Theregulator should be placed a minimum distance of 10 times the pipe diameter upstream of the boiler gas controls. All gaspiping must be tested after installation in accordance with local codes. The boiler and its gas connection must be leak-testedbefore placing it in operation.Figure H-1GAS SUPPLY CONNECTIONCAUTION: The boiler and its manual shutoff valve must be disconnected from the gas supply during anypressure testing of the gas supply system at test pressures in excess of 1/2 PSIG (3.45 KPA).The boiler must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing the manual shutoffvalve during any pressure testing of the gas supply piping system at test pressures equal to orless than 1/2 PSIG. Relieve test pressure in the gas supply line before reconnecting the boilerand its manual shut off valve to the gas supply line. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS PROCEDUREMAY DAMAGE THE GAS VALVES. Over pressurized gas valves are not covered by warranty. The boiler and its gas connections shall be leak tested before placing the appliance in operation.Use soapy water for leak test: DO NOT use open flame.CAUTION: Do not use Teflon tape on gas line pipe thread. A pipe compound rated for use with gas systemsis recommended. Apply sparingly only on male pipe ends.CAUTION: Support gas supply piping with hangers, not by the boiler or its accessories. Ensure the gaspiping is protected from physical damage and freezing where required.GAS SUPPLY PRESSUREA minimum of 7î W.C. and a maximum of 14î W.C. upstream gas pressure is required under load and no load conditionsfor natural gas. A minimum of 12î W.C. and a maximum of 14î W.C. is required for propane gas. The gas pressureregulator supplied is for low pressure service. If upstream pressure exceeds 14" W.C, an intermediate gas pressureregulator, of the dead lockup type, must be installed.NOTICE: The supply gas pressure must not fluctuate by more than +/- 1.0" WC. For fluctuating gas supply contactthe factory. When connecting additional gas utilization equipment to the gas piping system, the existing piping must be checked todetermine if it has adequate capacity
