It must therefore be installeddownstream of the discharge side of the filter pump. Atypical installation is plumbed as follows:1. The inlet side of the filter is plumbed directly tothe discharge side of the filter pump;2. The outlet side of the filter is then plumbed tothe inlet of the heater; and3. The outlet of the heater is plumbed to the returnline to the pool or spa. The pump, filter andheater are thus plumbed in series.Heater must be located so that any water leaks will notdamage the structure of adjacent area. High temperatureplastic pipe (CPVC) may be connected directly into theheater if local codes permit and if controls operate thepump for at least fifteen minutes after the heater is turnedoff.CAUTION: NEVER install PVC directly into heater.Four feet of copper or high temperature pipe and twoelbows are required between the heater and the PVCconnectionsFig. #8129.012When local codes permit the use of less than four feethigh temperature piping or two elbows, provisions shouldbe made to always shut the heater off a minimum of 15minutes prior to pump shut down in order to carry awayresidual heat and prevent damage to the low temperaturepiping. A fireman switch included in the time clock maybe used for this purpose with instruction not to overridethis sequence manually. See wiring diagram section forelectrical hookup location of the fireman switch in theelectrical circuit.NOTE: 1. When 2î piping is used into the heater, thispiping must be anchored (copper) or screwed into theflange (metal) if operating pressures above 30 PSI areencountered.2. Any restrictions between heater outlet andpool will void the warranty.FLOW RATESMODEL PIPE SIZE MIN. GPM MAX. If assembly tube isrequired use a silicone base such as Armoral etc.The inlet/outlet header flange accepts a 2î coppertube as a slip connection directly into the header. Theflange is also thread for a 2î copper male threadedadapter.Fig. # 8221.033
