To enable a proxy server, change the value for enableProxy to Yes andthe value of httpProxy to the name of the proxy server and port number in the formatHOST:PORT. For example, to use the proxy server squid.mysite.org on port 3128, youwould change the value to squid.mysite.org:3128.If you require a proxy username and password, set enableProxyAuth to Yes toenable username/password authentication for the proxy, and set proxyUser andproxyPassword to the appropriate username and password for the proxy.To bypass SSL, change the protocol for serverURL from https to http in the/etc/sysconfig/rhn/rhn_register file.5.2. Starting the Red Hat Network Registration ClientYou must be root to register a system with RHN. If started by a standard users, the Red HatNetwork Registration Client prompts you to enter the root password before proceeding.ImportantIf your username is part of a larger organizational account, be cautious when register-ing your systems. By default, all systems registered with the Red Hat Network Regis-tration Client end up in the Ungrouped section of systems visible only to OrganizationAdministrators. To ensure that you retain management of these systems, Red Hat recom-mends that your organization create an activation key associated with a specific systemgroup and grant you permissions to that group. You may then register your systems us-ing that activation key and find those System Profiles within RHN immediately. Refer toSection 2.5 Registering with Activation Keys for instructions.To start the Red Hat Network Registration Client, use one of the following methods:1. On the GNOME desktop, go to Applications (the main menu on the panel) => Pro-grams => System => Red Hat Network2. On the KDE desktop, go to Applications (the main menu on the panel) => System=> Red Hat Network3. Type the command rhn_register at a shell prompt (for example an XTerm orGNOME terminal)4. If you are not running the X Window System, type the command rhn_register ata shell prompt. Refer to Section 5.7 Text Mode RHN Registration Client for furtherdetails.
