Carefully readall the instructions in this manual first. Consult the"authority having jurisdiction" to determine the needfor a permit prior to starting the installation. It is theresponsibility of the installer to ensure this fireplaceis installed in compliance with the manufacturer'sinstructions and all applicable codes.GENERAL SAFETYINFORMATION1) The appliance installation must conform withlocal codes or, in the absence of local codes,with the current Canadian or National GasCodes, CAN1-B149 or ANSI Z223.1 InstallationCodes.2) The appliance when installed, must be electri-cally grounded in accordance with local codes,or in the absence of local codes with the currentNational Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 or CSAC22.1 Canadian Electrical Code.3) See general construction and assembly in-structions. The appliance and vent should beenclosed.4) This appliance must be connected to the speci-fied vent and termination cap to the outside ofthe building envelope. Never vent to anotherroom or inside a building. Make sure that thevent is installed as per Venting instructions.5) This appliance may only be installed in a vented,solid fuel burning masonry, listed factory builtfireplace, or zero clearance kit part # 530-936.6) This appliance is Listed for bedroom installationswhen used with a Listed Millivolt Thermostat.Some areas may have further requirements,check local codes before installation.7) This appliance is Listed for Alcove installations,maintain minimum Alcove clearances asfollows, minimum ceiling height of 53-1/2",minimum width of 48" and a maximum depthof 36".8) This unit is not approved for installation into amobile home.9) Inspect the venting system annually for block-age and any signs of deterioration.10) Any safety glass removed for servicing mustbe replaced prior to operating the appliance.11) To prevent injury, do not allow anyone who isunfamiliar with the operation to use the fireplaceinsert.12) Wear gloves and safety glasses for protectionwhile doing required maintenance.13) Ensure adequate combustion and ventilationair.14) Under no circumstances should this appliancebe modified. Parts that have to be removed forservicing should be replaced prior to operatingthis appliance.15) Installation and any repairs to this applianceshould be done by a qualified service person.A professional service person should be calledto inspect this appliance annually. Make it apractice to have all of your gas applianceschecked annually.16) Do not slam shut or strike the glass door.17) Under no circumstances should any solid fuels(wood, paper, cardboard, coal, etc.) be used inthis appliance.18) The appliance area must be kept clear andfree of combustible materials, (gases and otherflammable vapours and liquids).19) Do not use this appliance if any part has beenunder water.
