28 | LRI6E / HRI6E Direct Vent Gas Insert|28installationThe LRI6E / HRI6E use a heat exchanger and efficient combustion technol-ogy to provide extreme heating efficiencies. The more efficient an appliancebecomes, the lower the flue gas temperatures becomes. On start-up, flue temperatures are required to initiate venting action. Here are some considerations when setting up the LRI6E / HRI6E:1) When operating the unit in temperatures below 50° F, run the pilot in"Standing Pilot" mode, by setting the Surefire™ switch to ON.The switch is located to the bottom left of the Firebox Door.Move the switch to the right to run in Standing Pilot mode, to the left torun in Intermittent Pilot (electronic ignition) mode. This will aid in keepingthe flue slightly warmer than the outside air, making start up a smootherprocess.STANDING PILOT AND HEAT EXCHANGE RETURNExhaust BaffleScrews help to locatethe Exhaust Baffle wheninstalling in the FireboxExhaust BaffleExhaust Baffle Screws (both sides)Exhaust BaffleScrew Heat Exchanger ReturnHeat Exchanger ReturnHEAT EXCHANGE RETURNNOTE: Only installed at elevations of 35 feet maximum vent run.ADDING THE HEAT EXCHANGER RETURN1) Remove the panels if they are already installed. Remove one screwin the upper left and upper right of the firebox. If the unit has beenpreviously operated, spray these screws with WD-40. Once the screwshave been removed, lower the front edge of the exhaust baffle and pulltowards you. There are 3 screws at the rear of the exhaust baffle thathelp to position the baffle and keep it straight during operation.2) Install the heat exchange return as shown.3) Reinstall the exhaust baffle.
