Remove any bird nests, orother foreign material.3) Check for evidences of excessive condensa-tion, such as water droplets forming in theinner liner, and subsequently dripping out thejoints, Continuous condensation can causecorrosion of caps, pipe, and fi ttings. It maybe caused by having excessive lateral runs,too many elbows, and exterior portions of thesystem being exposed to cold weather.4) Inspect joints, to verify that no pipe sectionsor fi ttings have been disturbed, and conse-quently loosened. Also check mechanicalsupports such as Wall Straps, or plumbers'tape for rigidity.LOG REPLACEMENTThe unit should never be used with broken logs.Turn off the gas valve and allow the unit to coolbefore opening door and carefully remove thelogs. (The pilot light generates enough heat toburn someone.) If for any reason a log shouldneed replacement, you must use the properreplacement log. The position of these logsmust be as shown in the diagrams under LogInstallation.Note: Improper positioning of logs may cre-ate carbon build-up and will severelyalter the unit's performance which isnot covered under warranty.THERMOPILE/THERMOCOUPLE1) Open the Bottom Louvers or Grills. Removethe Top Louver or Grill.2) Remove the Trim Kit, Glass Door, Log Set,Grate and Burner Assembly (see page26).3) Disconnect thermocouple by loosening nutfrom the valve with a 9mm wrench. Discon-nect thermopile by loosening 2 screwsmarked TP on the valve.4) Remove 2 screws from the pilot assemblyand pull up far enough to be able to loosenthe thermocouple or thermopile with a 7/16"wrench. NOTE: the pilot line is very fragile,use caution when pulling it up.5) Drop the thermocouple or thermopile downthrough the extrusion and pull it out of theunit.6) Reinstall the new ones in reverse order.GLASS GASKETIf the glass gasket requires replacement use atadpole glass gasket (Part # 936-155).DOOR GLASSYour Regency fi replace is supplied with hightemperature 5mm-Tempered glass & 5mm-Ce-ramic glass. If your glass requires cleaning, werecommend using an approved glass cleaneravailable at all authorized dealers. When cleaning the logs, use asoft clean paint brush as the logs are fragileand easily damaged.2) Clean appliance and door with a dampcloth (never when unit is hot). Never usean abrasive cleaner. The glass should becleaned with a gas fireplace glass cleaner.The glass should be cleaned when itstarts looking cloudy.3) The heater is fi nished in a heat resistantpaint and should only be refinished with heatresistant paint. Regency uses StoveBrightPaint - Metallic Black #6309.4) Make a periodic check of burner for properposition and condition. Visually check theflame of the burner periodically, making surethe fl ames are steady; not lifting or fl oating.If there is a problem, call a qualifi ed serviceperson.5) The appliance and venting system must beinspected before use, and at least annually,by a qualifi ed fi eld service person, to ensurethat the fl ow of combustion and ventilationair is not obstructed.Note: Never operate the appliance with-out the glass properly secured inplace.6) Do not use this appliance if any part has beenunder water. Immediately call a qualifi edservice technician to inspect the applianceand to replace nay part of the control systemand any gas control which has been underwater.7) In the event this appliance has been servicedcheck that the vent-air system has beenproperly resealed & reinstalled in accord-ance with the manufacturer's instructions.8) Verify operation after servicing.General Vent MaintenanceConduct an inspection of the venting systemsemi-annually. Recommended areas to inspectas follows:1) Check the Venting System for corrosion inareas that are exposed to the elements.These will appear as rust spots or streaks,and in extreme cases, holes. These com-ponents should be replaced immediately.
