54Safety InstructionsALCI SAFETY DEVICEThis hair dryer is provided with anappliance leakage circuit interrupter (ALCI)safety device built into the plug. Thisdevice is designed to make theunit inoperable under some abnormalconditions, such as accidental immersionin water. The ALCI safety device isequipped with a test button so that itsoperation can be checked. This unit shouldbe tested before each use to confirm thatthe safety device is operational.To Test:After plugging in your hair dryer:■ Press the reset button on theALCI device.■ Press the test button. The reset buttonwill pop out. This verifies that thesafety device is operating properly.■ Press the reset button to reactivateyour ALCI safety device.■ Your hair dryer is now ready for use.Note: This unit may automatically tripwhen unplugged. If so, unit must be resetafter it is plugged in.
