Sabre ELSA Instructions For Use Manual
ELSA5ELSA should be stored away from directheat and sunlight, and operated between-15°C and +60°C. Prior to storing in verylow temperatures the apparatus, especially the valve flaps, must becompletely dry.2.2 HOODThe hood is fabricated in high-visibility,flame-resistant PVC or PVC coatedmaterials with a rubber neck seal.An inner mask, which covers the wearer’snose and mouth, minimises visor mistingand carbon dioxide dead space.Sprung metal strips hold the visor flatwhen in storage and when the hood is inuse; form the hood to a shape that holdsthe inner mask against the wearer’s face.A sealed foam pad on the inner rear ofthe hood holds the hood in place whenthe wearer’s head moves. The spring-loaded exhale valve helpsmaintain an above ambient pressurewithin the hood.2.3 REDUCER/CYLINDERVALVEThe reducer/cylinder valve (RCV) isscrewed permanently into the cylinder. Itis a spring and piston device with a fixedorifice outlet. The cylinder valve opensautomatically when the firing pin is pulled, permitting air to flow from the reducer tothe hood. The quick-fire strap can be used to pullthe firing pin in the unlikely event of thepin not releasing when the bag is opened. The red EMERGENCY PULL disc on the RCVcan be used to pull the valve actuatoronce the firing pin has been released. The warning whistle sounds when thedesigned duration (10 or 15 minutes.) isreached. Beyond this point the carbondioxide level in the hood increases andthe hood must be removed as soon asthe wearer is clear of the hazard area. The medium-pressure system isprotected from over-pressurisation by apressure relief valve (PRV) located in thereducer. The contents gauge indicates the cylindercharge level, which must be maintainedat fully-charged with the needle in thegreen sector of the gauge. The orange sector of the gauge indicatesthe minimum cylinder charge that willachieve the specified duration. This isNOT an acceptable charge state forissued or ready-use apparatus. The charging adaptor conforms to prEN144-2 : 1996.2.4 CYLINDERS10 minute steel cylinderCECountriesAustraliaand NewZealandWater Capacity 2L 2.2LCharging Pressure 200 bar 200 barWorking Pressure 200 - 10 bar 200 - 10 barDuration 11.5 min 12.5 minFree Air Capacity 400L 440LCharged Weight ofCompleteApparatus4.1kg 4.4kg15 minute steel cylinderCECountriesAustraliaand NewZealandWater Capacity 3L 3.3LCharging Pressure 200 bar 200 barWorking Pressure 200 - 10 bar 200 - 10 barDuration 17 min 19 minFree Air Capacity 560L 627LCharged Weight ofCompleteApparatus5.3kg 5.8kg2.5 STORAGE BAGThe standard bag is fabricated from high-visibility lightweight material.
